Oroville Flower Shop is one of Oroville's longest continually operating family businesses. 2013 welcomed a new branch of the same family tree for Oroville Flower Shop as Phil & Debbie Smith assume ownership.
1946- Soon after WWII, Jim and Betty Ryan open the Dutch Haven cafe in the State Theater building, and shortly added the Oroville Flower Shop. It was moved around downtown since its opening and was even part of Oroville Inn for some time.
1970- The Ryan's hire professionally trained florist Jim Smith, who honed his extraordinary design skills in Pasadena creating unique wedding events and floats for the Rose Parade.
1976- The Ryan's retire after 30 years and turn over ownership to Jim Smith. He adds an indoor pond and water fountain that create a lasting impression with customers.
1998- The Oroville Flower Shop family tree grows and Jim turns over ownership to longtime protege and daughter, Julie Jackson and son in law, Jack Jackson. A skilled designer, Julie steered Oroville Flower Shop to continued success.
2013- Phil & Debbie Smith, son and daughter in law of Jim Smith, assume ownership of Oroville Flower Shop. Phil & Debbie both bring business degrees from Point Loma Nazarene University and over 30 years of national retail experience. Our goal is to continue Oroville Flower Shop's success by providing great customer service, creative design, one of a kind gifts, and locally made products.
